I’m Mishaal Khan, and I’m excited to bring you geoINT Challenge 1, “Finding a QR code in China”. I’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time. As part of my work in OSINT, I often have to utilize a special subset of my skills to find a location. In addition to performing Geospatial-Intelligence (geoINT) tasks for my work, I’ve presented numerous examples in my talks, workshops and social media. I get asked all the time to do these in a more public way and to explain how I would tackle each task. Well, here it is!
This is the first of many geoINT challenges where you can Hack-Along (HAL) with me. Together we will test your skills on how to find places online starting with minimal information. We will utilize some websites and tools to aid you in the process. You will learn some cool tips and techniques to help you in solving this and future challenge.
Price = FREE!
Standard HAL price of $20 or more to support our community efforts

What’s a Hack-Along (HAL)?
A HAL is a structured set of lessons that accompany a public YouTube video from John Hammond’s Channel or other content creators. So instead of just watching the dissection of an attack or learning a tool or skill, you get to “Hack-a-Long” with John and his friends! HALs are between 30 – 120 minutes of student time and are presented with instructions. So, you’re never lost!
HALs comprise 99% instructional content with a small shoutout to other offerings on the JHT Platform to further one’s knowledge beyond what was just learned. HALs should be in the $20 – $50 range depending on the length of the content and the complexity of the virtual environment. Most will be only $20. Some are even in a “Pay What You Can” model. This HAL is just that!
What do I get?
In order to properly see NetExec in action, you not only get your own Kali Machine from which to run “nxc”, you’ll also be given several VMs to mimic an enterprise. This way you can see how it interacts within an Active Directory environment as well as against a sql server and a file server… All within a browser-based setup!
Prerequisites for M!$#’s geoINT Challenge 1
This HAL is a bit different from some of our others. Being a geoINT challenge and thus utilizing open-source resources, it does not have a VM. However, having your Google-dorking fu ready will be a plus! 😉
